Rescue Me ID: 18-02-17-00337Calla (female)

Anatolian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

This is Calla. She has only ever been a pet, but is rather protective. I don't think she'd have any problem transitioning to working other than wanting to be around her family and needing lots of love and attention. She can be very nervous around other people. I haven't found anyone that she's just 'warmed up' to immediately outside of my husband, daughter, and me. I've worked with her fearfullness as much as I have the capability to. We love this pup, but we're renters with no fenced in yard at the moment. I think she would be a better fit with someone who has more time and room for her. She is a VERY stubborn potty trainer. I haven't been ... (Read More)able to completely break her of going in the house. She's the least destructive puppy I've ever owned, but can still be, well, a puppy. She will require a meet and greet (at least an hour) before I allow her to leave with someone because she is fearful/nervous around new people. She does well with my 18 month old daughter, but not sure how she does around other children. She has not been around any dogs other than my GS, so I'm not sure how she will do with them. She's going to need someone who is both experienced with dogs in general and LGDs with room to run and a job for her to do(preferably someone with a farm and livestock). POOS. (Less)

Animal ID: 562Yollie (female)

Anatolian Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi, I'm Yollie. I was found running around in traffic on 71 Highway. Running in traffic isn't the best idea I've had but what else was there to do. I had no family, no friends, no one who cared about me. That's what I always wanted and really need - a family. I would be a great family pet to those with no other pets. With people I'm friendly, gentle, and not too demanding. I still like to jump fences so I'll need a home with a tall privacy fence that I can't climb. I promise I'll be the dog of your dreams. Do you have a little room in your heart to love me?

lnteresting Anatolian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost Missouri Spay & Neuter Clinics
Anatolian Shepherds have long been valued by herdsmen for their ability to best wolves in a fight. Anatolian Shepherds are very closely related, some say identical, to the Kangal, which is the national dog of Turkey. Exporting Kangal dogs from Turkey involves so many restrictions that it is effectively outlawed. Dogs similar to the Anatolian Shepherd existed over 6,000 years ago in Mesopotamia.
