Rescue Me ID: 17-06-13-00246Pasha (male)

Anatolian Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Lost my farm, and need to re-home.Pasha has lived with 3 other dogs all his life, so is good with most other dogs. However, he really blossoms when given one-on-one time and attention. He is not a working dog, but prefers being a companion dog. He loves swimming, going for long walks /hikes, but is most content to chill and curl up against you or on your feet. Is a great guardian/watchdog but not territorial away from home. Not a big barker. Runs EXTREMELY true to form for breed characteristics.

Animal ID: P42ACO-3/30/17Barley (male)

Anatolian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Barley, is just almost 2.5yrs old. He is fairly dominant over his other family dog members. He is the oldest, so that is typical in the breed and mix. He is Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd Mix (Is best guess, we know GP for certain). He is very tall, about waist height, he is also a Digger. This is NOT an apartment type dog and may not do well in city living. He will need room to play/roam and a rural or suburban type home is best. A traditional Fence is required. He would be best with dog savvy kids over 10yrs. They can be a stubborn breed, especially if mixed w/ Anatolian Shepherd. Livestock guardian experience or large breed ... (Read More)mountain dog experience will be required. They will definitely need an alpha owner. This is an already socialized, housebroken guy. He is being adopted through local animal control. Please contact me for a Pre-Adoption Questionnaire. (Less)

lnteresting Anatolian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost Pennsylvania Spay & Neuter Clinics
Anatolian Shepherds have long been valued by herdsmen for their ability to best wolves in a fight. Anatolian Shepherds are very closely related, some say identical, to the Kangal, which is the national dog of Turkey. Exporting Kangal dogs from Turkey involves so many restrictions that it is effectively outlawed. Dogs similar to the Anatolian Shepherd existed over 6,000 years ago in Mesopotamia. Anatolian Shepherds have such strong herding instincts that they will treat other household pets as their flock and become very protective of them.
