Paige is an absolute sweetheart and is so beautiful! Her rear leg is injured and she tries not to put much weight on it but she is eager to get outside of her kennel for a while and visit with people. She can walk on her own down to the run, as long as you let her go slowly and she gets around ok inside the run. She was happy to be out in the fresh air yesterday. Paige is so very sweet. She was great with my girls - very loving and affectionate. She's a bit intimidated by the shelter environment but she definitely loves to be with people. Anatolian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Mack is a Purebred Anatolian Shepherd turned into a shelter by his owners because the other dog in the household kept attacking him. Mack is going to be a loyal companion and would love to have some land so he can be the wonderful dog he is meant to be. He is underweight but will weigh 100+ when he catches up. Mack is very timid and apprehensive about new things and people. He needs a patient and understanding forever home who will continue working with him so he will continue to make progress. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/adoption_process_k-9_angels_rescue.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. Anatolian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

Leopold is a wonderful fellow. He is super-smart and loves his people SO much! Extremely loyal and protective of his 'flock', Leo knows sit, stay, and he will chase a stick or frisbee all day if you'll play. He's remarkably talented at catching treats in the air. He has lived with us for almost three years, and in that time, he has never outgrown his aggression toward our cats, and this is why we are hoping to find him a new home. He is fantastic with kids, and also with dogs of other dogs, both big and small (though he has shown aggression toward strays that come into the yard. He doesn't jump on people (outgrew that) and wants nothing more ... (Read More)than to be petted and sweet-talked. He definitely needs to be in a home with NO CATS.     Want to go on a walk? I know where the leash is, I'll go get it. By the way I am Laverne and I am an Anatolian Shepherd mix. I enjoy my walks but love my naps! Us Anatolian girls are pretty laid back and easygoing - no drama for us. Don't get me wrong, I can do attitude with the best of them - just ask any cat that comes near me. But I would much rather be sleeping in the sunshine. I also work well with livestock. So grab a leash, come over to BARK and let's go for a walk.

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-01-00633Lucy (female)

Anatolian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lucy was born on 10/24/2016, the daughter of a pure bred Anatolian Mother and Pyrenees Father. Recent clean bill of health, no heart worms and all vaccines up to date. Lucy is of a noble character, observant of her domain as she has been bred to do; not easily flustered. She has a keen natural tendency to corral any creatures in her flock (my family, cats, dogs) and protect us from any outside intruders. She bonds closely with any dog, cat, person, or beast that is part of her household..She is not tolerant of dogs outside of her domain, she is, however, curious and protective of anything non-canine such as a horse or goat. She especially ... (Read More)loves horses and they love her. She is gentle with children and has never bitten her family. She will occasionally attack dogs that intrude on her territory. She doesn't kill them but otherwise will assert her dominance in convincing fashion to them, even the largest dogs are play toys to her; it is a sight to behold. Because she is unpredictable with dogs she doesn't know, we don't suggest adopting her if you have other Alpha or large dogs. We had a Coyote problem before we got her, since she has been outside we have had no Coyotes present, not even heard in the distance. She would instantly destroy a Coyote who dared to enter her domain, these dogs are bred to kill Wolves in the Turkish mountains. Her physical power is unreal, I have never seen anything like it. We want to find her a larger territory to guard, we are in a residential area even with 11 acres-she patrols beyond our borders and does not play well with dogs that aren't part of her fold .We have 2 small dogs and cats that run around with her and she just loves on them, they are kind of cocky now that they have a huge bodyguard backing them up. Lucy is a magnificent creature, she needs a large acreage or flock of livestock to guard, you couldn't ever find a better guard than she. Also, Lucy has been raised as a puppy around children, she won't be aggressive or dangerous to youngsters and is acclimated to being close to humans. This breed also likes to live 'off the land', she will find bones and critters on her own to supplement her diet. She has not been fixed yet, she is only a puppy at 13 months but will need to be fixed soon if breeding is not desired. She likes to have company, she will accept any breed that is part of her flock (we have lap dogs that she plays with). Anyone who adopts Lucy will have a powerful protector to their flock and family, our property is too small and she is not happy here because we have to corral her. Please take Lucy to where she belongs, rural acreage bordered by more rural acreage. (Less)
