Anatolian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Meet 40! 40 is still a puppy at only around 1 year old and around 60lbs. He is a mixed breed, likely has some Anatolian Shepherd mix in him. He is looking for a new home after his adopter changed their mind and his foster is not able to keep him as she works overseas a lot. 40 is neutered and up to date with his shots. He walks great on the leash and loves the outdoors. He loves to run....and explore outside. He really is a super sweet soul. He can be startled by loud scary things like vacuum cleaners and would do best as an only dog in the home or an experienced owner who can allow a slow integration into a home with other dog(s). He would ... (Read More)do best in a home with kids 13+ . Email wohenrycat@aol.com. (Less)

Animal ID: UnknownHalo (female)

Anatolian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Halo was surrendered to the Euless Animal Shelter and is looking for a home. She is an adorable dog and the family who took her temporarily in good faith, hated to take her to the shelter but had no choice. They wrote a great bio on her and we hope we can find her a great home and family--she has such a sad little face-heartbreaker: Halo came to us about a month and a half ago. Her owner was a friend of my step-son. The owner and his family were moving from a house to an apartment so they said they needed someone to take care of her for only a week. He stated that he really loved his dog and was either going to find his family a new place ... (Read More)that would take her or he would find her a new home. She has since been abandoned with us. The owner has not come back to see her. Has not called or stopped by and has also ignored any attempt at contacting him. Halo is a 3 year old Anatolian/Lab mix. She has the unique double dewclaws on the back. She is very sweet, very smart, good with other dogs. We were told she does not do well with cats. But we have not had her around any to test. She is leashed train and loves to go for walks. She learns quickly. She is also an escape artist. So when she is outside we leave her on a dog run. Not that she runs away. She has got out a couple of times. Each time she just went to the front door and scratched to come in. When she came to us we were told she was an outside dog. They kept her outside 100% of the time. But if she's outside too long she starts crying. She sleeps inside. She plays with dog toys by herself. She isn't quite sure how to play with people and her toys at the same time. She is also a pretty timid dog. If you raise your voice to her in the slightest, she will cower down as if she has been hit before. We have never raised a hand to her. But not sure about the previous owner. She is a lover and loves to cuddle. She wants to be with people. She deserves and needs a family that will work with her and train her. She picks up commands easily. We've taught her to sit and to gently take the treats from our hand. She knows where her bed is and listens when my husband tells her to lay down. She seems to respond to the male voice better than female voices. She is a good guard dog. She alerts us to any sounds or movement outside. It breaks my heart that we cannot keep her. She would make an awesome family dog! Halo is spayed, vaccinated and heartworm negative. Contact the Euless Animal Shelter at 1517 Westpark Way in Euless, 817-685-1594.     Ginger Spice came into the shelter on 10/29/2015 and weighs 39 lbs. While she did test positive for heartworms, don't let that scare you off - they are non-contagious and are treatable. %A0Treatment involves time at the vet + 30 days of rest (not available at the shelter - it's not exactly a restful place).     Curly is ball crazy and is very easy to exercise, just throw her ball, which she will bring back every single time. She is good with other dogs as long as they don't want her ball, so unless you are dog savvy she should be an only dog. She abandoned as a puppy, tied up outside a restaurant in winter. lnteresting Anatolian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost Texas Spay & Neuter Clinics
Anatolian Shepherds have long been valued by herdsmen for their ability to best wolves in a fight. Anatolian Shepherds are very closely related, some say identical, to the Kangal, which is the national dog of Turkey. Exporting Kangal dogs from Turkey involves so many restrictions that it is effectively outlawed. Anatolian Shepherds are very independent and will take personal responsibility for guarding a flock.
