Rescue Me ID: 17-10-20-00150Goliath (male)

Anatolian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Goliath, a 13 month old Anatolian Shepherd/Lab Mix. He is a gentle giant that gets along well with cats, children and most other dogs. My roommate and I are both single moms who work long hours. As a result, my roommate is away from home for extended hours and so her dog, Goliath, stays inside all day and does not get exercised the way that he needs to be and deserves. As you can imagine, this is not the best living situation for him. He needs to live in a home where he is taken care of and exercised regularly. Goliath needs someone who has the space and the patience and energy for a dog his size. He needs someone who can take him ... (Read More)for walks and exercise him - whether it be at the dog park or in the backyard, he loves being outdoors. He does have some quirks. He is a guardian breed. This is really important to understand because he has issues around space and territory. He sleeps during the day and is up at night pacing around the house and checking on everyone. This is also the only time he will eat! Goliath is a hunter. He has killed squirrels, opossums, rats, birds and raccoons. He would do really well with someone who enjoys hunting or has land. We are looking for someone who... -lives in a house -has a decent sized backyard or owns land/farm -is active (this is crucial for this type of dog). -does not own a lot of pets or has just one other pet and does not intend to have anymore (we have two other dogs and a cat and it's a lot for him). Goliath has been trained and passed the Obedience Program through Taurus academy. There is a rehoming fee of $75, paid to Rescueme.org This will help us ensure that Goliath is going to someone who is serious about taking care of him and will not abuse him. If you are interested in adopting Goliath or know of someone who may be interested, please contact me at your earliest convenience. Thank you! (Less)

Anatolian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My name is Loop. I am a very sweet natured - but shy - young female dog. I am very healthy, fixed, up to date on my shots and crate trained. I had a rough start in life. I was born into a situation where I was surrounded by aggressive dogs. As a result, I am very shy and around stuff I am not used to. When strangers come to my house, I run and hide. I have yet to master the art of potty training, but I am working on it! I am looking for a loving new home with people who will provide me with a safe, happy and healthy home. I need a strong routine, and would be best suited for an adults only - only pet home. I am definitely a diamond in ... (Read More)the Ruff! With patience and a bit of training, I will mature and settle into a fantastic family companion. I will be rehomed with all supplies and vet records. Please adopt me today. (Less)

Akila is a 10 month old anatolian shepherd great pyrenees mix. She is spayed and up to date on shots. She came from an elderly couple from Rockport that had to evacuate due to the hurricane. They asked me to find a suitable home for her. My 3 male dogs hate her and she is very aggressive toward one of them but she loves my friends female German shepherd and they are always playing together. She loves to play in water and is good with a bath. I'm not sure if she's completely housebroken. She's ok if she's watched. We put her in the bathroom at night or if we have to go somewhere. Not sure how she is with cats or other animals but she loves ... (Read More)people. Contact me for more information. (Less)

Cash is low energy during the day. He is my night dog and protects against predators on my 22 acre horse ranch; along with my neighbors cattle. He is in during the day while my day dog is out. The day dog is in at night, they do not get along. He is good with cats, not good with loose chickens. He loves to be brushed. He will not take food from a hand, but enjoys treats and the cat food when he can get to it. He will keep Bob Cats and Coyotes away. I am changing my lifestyle and will not be able to keep Cash. If you are kind and caring please consider this loveable guy. P.S. He has never had an accident in the house.

lnteresting Anatolian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost Texas Spay & Neuter Clinics
Anatolian Shepherds have long been valued by herdsmen for their ability to best wolves in a fight. Anatolian Shepherds are very closely related, some say identical, to the Kangal, which is the national dog of Turkey. Exporting Kangal dogs from Turkey involves so many restrictions that it is effectively outlawed. Anatolian Shepherds have such strong herding instincts that they will treat other household pets as their flock and become very protective of them.
