Anatolian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My brother recently passed away and we need to find a home for his large breed dog, a Shepherd mix who is roughly 8 years old. She is currently staying at the Montgomery Animal Hospital in Montgomery, Texas. We need to find placement for her ASAP. She is up to date on all of her shots, and she has been spayed. My brother lived in Colorado for 24 years and has had Ellie for ...about 8 years. I do not know where he got her but she is a large dog that was very attached to him. Why Ellie needs a new home - She was my brother's dog for many years until he passed away on 12/21/14 and she does not appear to do well around the family's other ... (Read More)smaller household pets. However, prior to my brother's divorce in 2012, Ellie did live with 3 other dogs of medium size and they all got along. The other dogs accepted Ellie as the alpha dog. Ellie has been my brother's dog for years and although she will allow adults to handle her, she is very skittish when he was not around. Ellie has never been around smaller children on a long-term basis. She does appear very good around my nieces and nephews ages 5 to 12, however, I have only observed this recently and not for long periods of time. It would be better for Ellie to be with someone who was at home most of the day. Ellie is used to being an indoor dog. Please call Vicky Burg with any questions at 936-718-1685 or by email: vickyburg@consolidated.net. NOTE: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership, K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted and altered. PUPPIES: Puppies that haven't had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center at our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application, and if approved, a meeting can be arranged. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions, however, the adopter MUST come get the dog/puppy and bring them home with them. We do not allow our dogs/puppies to be shipped. ADOPTION FEE: $200 (includes spay/neuter, shots, microchip, medicines and other medical procedures, if necessary) ADOPTION CENTER: 2409 Montrose Ave (near Fairview), Houston, TX 77006 HOURS: Saturdays 10 AM - 6 PM and Sundays 11 AM - 3:30 PM Please LIKE and share our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/k9angelsrescue. PIease Read Before Adopting an Anatolian Shepherd in Texas
Anatolian Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Anatolian Shepherd is a large breed with strong herding instincts. Anatolian Shepherds need strong leadership from their masters and are matched best with owners who have experience training dogs. An Anatolian Shepherd is a very loyal dog with strong protective instincts towards its loved ones. Anatolian Shepherds are wary of strangers and need to be introduced to new people. An Anatolian Shepherd is very friendly towards people he knows well. lnteresting Anatolian Shepherd Trivia Low-Cost Texas Spay & Neuter Clinics
Anatolian Shepherds have long been valued by herdsmen for their ability to best wolves in a fight. Anatolian Shepherds are very closely related, some say identical, to the Kangal, which is the national dog of Turkey. Exporting Kangal dogs from Turkey involves so many restrictions that it is effectively outlawed. Anatolian Shepherds have such strong herding instincts that they will treat other household pets as their flock and become very protective of them.
