|Rescue Me ID: 16-02-10-00074Jack (male)|
Jack showed up at my house a week ago. I have tried to find an owner to no avail. He is very smart, very sweet and tries very hard to please. He learns very quickly. He is a beautiful boy. I am in my 60's with other animals and I just cannot take care of him and need to find him a good home as soon as possible. I live in the country and don't have a fenced yard, leaving him with too much room to roam.

|Rescue Me ID: 16-02-09-00303Acacia (female)|
Acacia is the second smallest in the bunch is just bursting with love and energy. Her bright blue eyes are simply stunning when she looks up at you. Like Mesquite, she loves to cuddle with foster mama after eating...and maybe chew on Mesquite's ear! Acacia will not be at our adoption center for a couple of weeks but you can apply to meet any of them at www.k-9angelsrescue.org. Our 'tree' litter consists of Redwood, Fir, Spruce, Cottonwood, Mesquite & Acacia. They have an approximate birthdate of 1-1-16 and are considered to be Lab/Australian shepherd mixes. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/adoption_process_k-9_angels_rescue.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. However, we only adopt young puppies locally, due to the 4 month timeframe it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. ADOPTION FEE: $200 (includes spay/neuter, shots, microchip, medicines and other medical procedures, if necessary) ADOPTION CENTER: 5533 Weslayan St. in the Weslayan Plaza Shopping Center Houston, TX 77005 HOURS: Saturdays 10 AM - 6 PM and Sundays 11 AM - 3:30 PM NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian. |Rescue Me ID: 16-01-25-00283 (male)|
This lovable boy showed up at our gate January 13, where he stayed all day, sweetly asking to be let in. We suspect he was abandoned by his family as he'd recently been shaved, is well-fed and has been neutered. He is very good with dogs of all sizes and he's also very good in the car. He is part Australian Shepherd; may also be part Anatolian Shepherd. He has been examined and is being boarded by a vet, where he will be able to stay until February 29. After that, he will have to go to a shelter. His age is estimated at 1 year. He is in good health although he is heartworm positive and will need treatment. Please contact me if you'd like to adopt him or have questions. He's a very good dog, and we'd hate to see another person let him down. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 16-01-10-00514Barley (male)|
Barley is a good dog, but when we got ourselves another male, he started showing too many signs of dominance, including peeing in our house. We have been unable to break him of that and would like to find a good home for him where there are no other male dogs for him to feel like he has to show his dominance over.

40 is out of Baghdad, the person who wanted him changed his mind. He is a great dog, very submissive. He is easily frightened and startled. Sometimes his own shadow scares him. He is an indoor dog, however, loves to roam outside. He loves Lucy, the pit-mix but he doesn't like other dogs. I am sure he could get use to other dogs with time. I would love for him to find a loving home with someone who has time for him and give him lots of love because he has lots of love to give back. Lucy is 2, pit boxer mix, loves everybody and is as gullible as can be. She gets along with all dogs, likes cats, doesn't bark at other dogs but will bark if someone is at your door or fence. If you are looking to add two dogs to your family, 40 and Lucy would be great. Both are potty trained, kennel trained and listen well. Due to my new job I just don't have the time they need and I hate for them to be in the kennel all day without any attention. I can't leave them outside because of the neighborhood I live in, 40 is very protective and will bark if someone gets close or my neighbors dogs are out. I really would love for them to find a great home, they are great dogs! Ideal would be a large back yard and someone who is home at least 50% of the day, only because I feel like they do not deserve to be in the kennel all day. (Less)

Curly is ball crazy and is very easy to exercise, just throw her ball, which she will bring back every single time. She is good with other dogs as long as they don't want her ball, so unless you are dog savvy she should be an only dog. She abandoned as a puppy, tied up outside a restaurant in winter. She knows sit, down, wait and walk well on leash

|Rescue Me ID: 15-10-07-00357Marlene (female)|
Hello, my name is Marlene! Like my namesake, Marlene Dietrich, I shamelessly use my good looks to charm audiences everywhere. I may have movie star good looks, but my sweet personality is really what wins over audiences. Right now I'm loving life in my foster home. I get to play with my four legged siblings of all sizes and I even get to spend my nights cuddled up in bed with my foster dad! It sure is a far cry from being dumped at the pound for having a boo-boo that just took a little TLC to fix up. In addition to my beauty and sweet, friendly personality, I also know the basics of being the perfect house dog - I'm crate and house trained! |Rescue Me ID: 15-09-14-00106Big Dixie (female)|
Fee covers only a portion of rescuing the next dumped dog Big Dixie / Mostly Anatolian Sheppard Dog / Dixie is large dog with fluid movements and a calm temperament. I am off to Christmas vacation and Big Dixie is staying home with our caretaker for the ranch. I will be back after the first of the year but I thought I would post so you might ponder choosing her if you are shopping during the Christmas break. She is well muscled with a strong head. The breed was developed to protect livestock. Her eye markings look like mastiff or the eyes of the dog pictured below. She does shed some. Dixie kennels well and comes on command. She does not have struggles with other dogs to be the alpha. She stretches out to run and has run over and rolled smaller dogs a few times. Though insulted they jump up and try unsuccessfully to catch up. I have always owned dogs and other animals. I had a career in education and recreation, serving in many capacities. I began dog rescue as a librarian when I asked children what kind of summer program they would like and they chose dog rescue, dog training, and dog therapy. I sold Labrador retrievers and Jack Russell terriers before I became a dog rescuer and realized that until a lot of change occurs in the attitude of those who abuse and abandon dogs there is no need to be a breeder, there are planet of excellent dogs available that need help. I now live in land adjoining the Big Thicket National Preserve one of our National parks and a designated International Biosphere Reserve by the United Nations in 1981. While it is a land of magical plants and wildlife it is also an area of Texas which had great prosperity through nearby oil, offshore, and refinery jobs that no longer exist. With a populace not yet ready to understand the need for an education the middle class is shrinking, more people are renters, few programs exist for low cost spay and neuter, and many fine animals are dumped. Dixie came onto our property at about 6 weeks old and put her paws on the fence to be let in. She is easy to doctor and will roll into your lap for nail trimming although she is very frightened by it. She is shy and timid. Corrections can be done by displeased voice. I am in my 60s and have become overwhelmed with the number of dogs dumped I need to place some so I can foster more. Dixie has been spayed, has her shots, and is on heart worm medicine. One caution exists concerning small yappy biting dogs. I own several Jack Russell terriers who often swipe in and bite a large dog on the rear flank or attack over food. While Dixie has no first engagement fighting instinct she has pierced the ear of Kyle for nipping her on the rear one too many times. As shephard she has a protection instinct for herself and her pack. She is as protective of her human family as if she were guarding a heard of sheep. 409 4549619 (Less)

Cowboy Milo was intercepted from being left at a boarding facility by his owners. He is a gentle giant, weighing in at 90 lbs. He is estimated to be about 3 years old, is already house trained, walks well on a leash, and is great in the house. He does not like being crated, but is learning that it is not so bad. He gets along with other pups with the right introduction, but we are not sure about cats. If you are interested in adding this pup to your family, please fill out our Pre-Adoption Application. However, they are very rare here in the US. Atlas has all the traits and temperament that is common and prevalent in this breed. He is a giant baby and loves his owners. |PIease Read Before Adopting an Anatolian Shepherd in Texas|
Anatolian Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Anatolian Shepherd is a large breed with strong herding instincts. Anatolian Shepherds need strong leadership from their masters and are matched best with owners who have experience training dogs. An Anatolian Shepherd is a very loyal dog with strong protective instincts towards its loved ones. Anatolian Shepherds are wary of strangers and need to be introduced to new people. An Anatolian Shepherd is very friendly towards people he knows well. Anatolian Shepherds are caring towards children, but may not know their own strength and therefore need to be supervised around younger kids. A large fenced yard or farm environment is best for Anatolian Shepherds. Its ability to herd animals and protect the perimeter of a property makes the Anatolian Shepherd an excellent working dog.
