|Rescue Me ID: 16-08-28-00370Chai (female)|
Chai's mother is a purebred ENGLISH SHEPHERD, (this breed was not in the drop down menu so I chose the closest I could come to it), and her father is predominantly Anatolian Shepherd and Mountain Cur. She was born on June 24th, so was nine weeks old on August 26th. Chai is sweet with people but is definitely dominant at times with other canines and she will need a strong person. Even at her young age she tries to take on the three adult dogs on the property. She would NOT be good for a beginner dog owner. I think she will be a good companion but she will need work to do. A good farm dog to help protect livestock, etc. Father is a protector and mother has strong herding instincts. If the mother does not have animals to herd she will herd people. I have not seen this in Chai but would suspect if she is bored she may revert to such instinctual habits. All of her litter mates have been adopted, as have the puppies from another litter she grew up with. She needs a home soon with a handler to help her learn that she is not in charge of the world. An Anatolian Shepherd is a very loyal dog with strong protective instincts towards its loved ones. Anatolian Shepherds are wary of strangers and need to be introduced to new people.
